Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice – Interpretation possibilities Thinking about approaching Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, the more I researched, the more varied interpretation possibilities I acknowledged. I was quite surprised, so I thought that playing around with the possibilities, as loud thoughts, would not hurt. The play existed by July 1598 but was probably […]

Frequently asked Questions related to Theatre Plays
Can I download plays from this site?
Not anymore. The free downloading of my plays was suspended due to too many unprofessional requests and misuse of my terms and conditions. If you still have interest in downloading them, contact me directly and I will study your case carefully. Thanks for your interest.
As soon as I have access to the scripts, could I produce, stage and / or read the plays in public without permission of the author?
No. Any public performance to a paying or non-paying audience should follow only after my written authorization.
Can I adapt the play and / or modify the text before and/or during rehearsals / performances / readings?
No. However, editing with ‘me directly’, only after my written consent, would be possible in some of the plays.
Commissioning a play. Possible?
It depends on several aspects. Please contact me explaining in detail about the production in general, such as the duration of the show, approximate number of characters, theme and type of audience. Adaptations of classics, apart from my original scripts, would also be viable, including translations from English, German and French. What I am not willing to discuss or do, are children plays or musicals.
How much is the license?
It depends on my assessment. For educational and / or social purposes, the license can be acquired for free. A proof of the institution, however, will be required. For other purposes, a fair fee will be charged depending on the nature of the production.
Do these plays are appropriate for schools?
Usually I do not write for children. My plays contain strong language and strong contexts for the young audience and the fact that I generally do not agree to changes in the text, makes it difficult. For teenagers in high school however, some of the plays could be appropriate, but still it is necessary to understand the policy of the school and the public concerned.
I need tips on study/teaching material of theatre in general.
The study of theatre is complex and intense. There are thousands of books and billions of topics (theatre as administration, as on and off stage, as literature, etc). Sorry, but I cannot help you there for the lack of time. In this case, nothing is better than the good and old research …
Are the plays in Portuguese? Is there a possibility to translate them into French and / or German?
The majority of my plays are in English. To translate them into Portuguese, French and / or German there are two ways: I could translate them for you or you translate them yourself, sending me the translated play back for my final authorization since the context and the subtext of a poor translation can and certainly will modify the original idea of the text. So my final OK is essential.
I still have other questions …
Do contact me. I would be happy to answer them. Thanks.

My Books
Because of the hard work, research, creativity and never ending love I put into my novels, I made them available to you, people who read books not because someone said you should, but simply because you want it. How many times have I wanted to read certain books that did not exist yet? Being so, I wrote them having no reason, in times like today, to feel less dignified as a writer just because I published my works independently. My books are very much alive and here, just waiting to be read.

Enjoy my Chronicles
My chronicles aren’t just personal scribbles; they are, I guess, mirrors of the international and colourful society that I experience as a long-established expat, dedicated art lover and also as an accomplished traveller, not to mention as a sharp observant human being. My essays are more polished, but they still represent my essence and the way I understand all that I come to analyse more closely. Either way, my world is just a click away.

Theatre Directors as a Sign of Weakness
German director Peter Stein says that the theatre director very existence is a sign of the weakness and decline of the modern stage. The irony, of course, is that he is not only one, but one of the most accomplished in contemporary theatre. There are countless actors such as Ian McKellen, for example, who back […]

Beyond Words
Theatre director Artaud serves as inspiration for many contemporary directors perhaps because his ideals were never fully developed, leaving thus room for further investigation. In his writings and some of his productions where he worked as an actor or director one notes an element of despair, of illogical presentation, but also the worry to force […]

All that madness
Peter Brook’s famous questions made to a director are ‘Why do you want to make theatre and how?’ Let me see… Theatre (similar to books) is a magic world where everything is possible, similar to the one I used to create when I was a child playing with my dolls. I created scenarios, situations, plots, […]
